The Stevia plant comes from the South- America, where it has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years as a substitute for sugar and honey - to sweeten foods healthily and naturally, without calories. A stevia extract containing stevioside and rebaudioside A is 300 times sweeter than regular sugar.
Stevia does not store jam like sugar, nor does it brown or caramelize like sugar. However, it is heat resistant so that it can be used in baking or cooking like sugar.
Instructions for use: You can use Stevia powder like sugar or artificial sweeteners, but it is worth noting that the extract is very abundant. Only remarkably small amounts of stevia are enough for sweetening, 1/10 teaspoon equals one teaspoon of fine sugar. So a small teaspoon of pointed stevia is enough to sweeten your coffee or tea, for example, if you are used to using one teaspoon of fine sugar normally.
