Agave syrup, called “honey water” in Mexico, is a sweetener that resembles honey in composition and taste. The low glycemic index agave water syrup is a healthier sweetening option for refined sugar as well as other commercial sweeteners. The GI of agave syrup is 11-19, that of honey about 55 and that of table sugar about 68. Thus, agave syrup does not cause strong fluctuations in blood sugar.
Agave syrup is a natural sweetener e.g. for making raw chocolate, smoothies, baking and anything where sugar is used. The flowable composition of the syrup is suitable for a wide range of cooking, for example as a substitute or companion for honey or sugar.
